Geek Squad let you down? Call Brad

Our customers tell us that the Geek Squad here at Best Buy in Lincoln Nebraska has a history of being late, canceling appointments, and not following up when problems arise. I recently received an E-mail describing one customer’s experience with Brad’s PC Repair and the Geek Squad.

Microsoft Works Calendar fixed.

I’ve had several customers recently who’ve had problems with Microsoft Works Calendar not starting. After using the program for some time, it would give them an error about ‘mswkscal.wcd’, and not being able to find a file necessary to start.

After looking into the problem, I found that apparently the mswkscal.wcd file can become corrupted. Microsoft’s support article suggests replacing the file with the one from the installation CD. This method works for getting the program to start, however, your calendar data will all be gone, since it’s loading a blank database.

I fixed this issue for a customer remotely, and restored all of his data back to Works Calendar. I used Microsoft Access to rename the file, then repair it using the ‘compact and repair’ function the database utilities menu.
