Is it Fun to Follow Brad Around?

Well, you’d have to ask Devin Nygren from East Butler High School. He claims to have had a good time job-shadowing me today. I will trust that he is telling the truth — he’s seems like a good guy.

Honestly, I do enjoy taking time to impart some knowledge on a fellow computer gee — I mean . . . enthusiast. Plus, he got out of school for the day, something I can definitely support!

Devin helped install some software, do a couple of Windows Updates and diagnose some laptop hardware issues. He expressed some interest in web design as well, so we toured a couple of sites that I’m working on. I know he is using Dreamweaver a little in his classes, but I’m still not sure about some of the Apple programs he mentioned. I don’t think I’ll be trying Applenotes(?) any time soon. I’ll stick to notepad.

I was trying to talk him into giving CSS a try. Don’t get me wrong — tables are just fine — but there’s nothing like pulling your hair out trying to get a DIV to align. I’ll have to find a good book on CSS at Amazon.com to send him and his HTML class out at East Butler. I’ll have to stop in and visit them next time I’m in Brainard, Nebraska! I’m sure they’ll be busy writing code in BASIC or updating names of the bus drivers on their school’s website. <–(send me a link Devin!)
