Allied Semiconductor says “Make a note to yourself”

Here’s a post to anyone in the IT industry getting calls from ‘Allied Semiconductor’. This company calls me almost daily about buying from them as a wholesale distributor. I’ve repeatedly told them not to call, and to add me to their do-not-call list. Now many a salesperson has told me their isn’t a do-not-call list for businesses — and that may be true — however, if a customer asks you not to solicit them anymore, aren’t you bound by some kind of jurisdiction to not continue calling and harassing?

I asked the salesperson if I was on any kind of do-not-call list at their company, and if they would take me off their call list. He says, “no, I just called you from the internet yellow pages”. I asked him if he could make a note not to call me again, and he replied “well I personally won’t call you again, but I can’t truthfully say no one will ever call you again. Maybe you should make a note to yourself — ” That’s when I hung-up on the guy.

I will not buy anything from this company — ever. They have wasted too much of my time, and are constantly tying up my phone lines, preventing my customers from getting through to me.

If you’ve had similar experiences, please leave a comment on this post. Hopefully these guys will get the message. Oh, and here’s and example of Allied Semiconductor’s quality of service.

  • PLENTY
Allied Semiconductor has been very helpful to me and my business, If anyone is going to get upset over a few phone calls just needs to get over it or change their number. If a sales person calls me I just tell them I have a rep with Allied and they move on to the next order. Remember most businesses in fact maybe all has one major issue so give Allied the opportunity to provide you with the product necessary to run your business.
  • pcguruzanesville
I own a computer company in Zanesville, Ohio. Allied has called me every-other-day for the past 3 years.
I made the mistake of doing business with them when I first opened my store, and they shorted my order.
To make a long story short, I never did receive the shortage.

I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH ALLIED AGAIN!
  • Robert L
I've been buying from John for 5 years with no major issues, and stilll do business with allied.... but only with john.

Thanks for the info, they just called me to give me 3 power supplies for $45 and free shipping and a FREE T-SHIRT! Sounded too weird so I looked them up on the internet and found your site. Thanks for steering me clear of this company!
  • Amazing, I have been to four different sites that are railing against Allied and EVERY one has the EXACT same comment by michaelwebb!
And to top that off, on EVERY SINGLE SITE he joined the same day as his post. Obviously an employee.
I had the chance to use Allied for some parts (I run an I.T. company in MI)
Carey, the sales person I spoke with, was very nice, seemingly knowledgeble, and easy to get hold of.
until I got my order. Not only was it wrong, the one correct part was so obviously used that I couldn't sell it. Suprise, all of a sudden Carey is no where to be found, repeated calls, e-mails, etc.. and almost a year later we have gotten no response still. Even after we cancelled the payment...hmm. this must be so normal for them that they no longer even try to make it up.
  • Computer Zone
As an act of attrition for screwing up a previous order, they had sent me a tote bag. A Friggen tote bag?!?! Are they kidding? Even a paltry 40gig hard drive would have been a better gesture. Just now received a call from them, I asked if he had the internet in front of him. Yes. I asked him to google "allied semiconductor", & read the 2nd & down hits. His tone changed quickly and he said that they have 10,000+ customers. I rebutted that with little effort I could find a company that has MORE customers and LESS complaints. Then I hung up in order to take another call.
  • FORMER EMPLOYEE 2
This company IS EVIL! I worked for them for a long time. They don't give a damn about their employees and the whole operation is a huge con. They will send you used parts and claim they are new. Curtis Timmins (Manager) is a sex offender (http://www.icrimewatch.net/offenderdetails.php?...) and a total @$$hole! They pay minimum wage and the majority of the staff are either alcoholics or druggies. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!
  • Former Employee
I once worked for them and even though the last guy is either lucky or an employee. There are only two People in charge. Either Curtis Timmins or John Joost if you talk to anyone else is a salesperson pretending to be a manager. Their Philosophy is once they have your money you can wait. If you spend large amounts of money they are more likely to help . But that is not the bad part. They buy RMA returns and sell as new. They will also repacked used parts and sell as new. Buying from this company is a shot in the dark and you take great risk. Like any company they have some good deals but knowing them from the inside I would not buy from them. Better to go to their suppliers and maybe pay a dolloar or two more.

I own a computer company in salem oregon, and I have been doing business with allied for about a year or so, before I first ordered with allied and got my first order shipped to me for free, my buddy had told me about a bad experience that he had a year before and strongly advised me not to give in to there low prices and awsome availability on many parts I was looking for everyday, so I thought about and heard about some parts they had for a great price, and so I decided to place my whole weeks order with them( that free shipping offer is a money saver ). my sales rep was to be a polite young man named warren beatty(not related to the actor he always says)after placing the order totaling $3,842.36 I waited a few days and got a large order(systems always double boxed)to my shop. I've been doing business with warren since that order, systems, servers and all parts in between. I guess they must have all new blood in that place. point being: if you are going to order from allied semiconductor corporation call: 1(800)207-5945ext.117 that's warren he'll do you right!

Now, here is a measure of irony I would rather not have experienced!
I am the owner operator of a computer company in Utah. I make my living by taking care of my customers to the best of my ability. I usually am successful in doing so as my normal wholesalers generally meet the expectations they set and thusly I meet the expectations I set for my clients. This was not the case when I had dealings with Allied Semiconductors. I too gave Allied an opportunity to earn my business in a very similar fashion to you. They called me month after month for the first three years we were in business and I told them time after time I was not interested. Eventually, I came across a situation where they had a product my normal supplier did not have in stock. They told me they had one in stock and I could get free shipping on my first order. I told them I would gladly pay for shipping if they would overnight it. They said there was one of the boards in stock and I would have it the next day. They charged my card and I waited for the board to arrive. I continued to wait and to this day the board has never arrived. I called to follow up on it and was passed from one person to another and eventually tossed into voicemail. I called back and talked to Jordan, the supervisor of Damien the sales guy that made the promises that were never kept. He told me he would take care of it and I would see the charges reversed within 24 - 72 hours. A week went by and still no credit was posted. Long story short, I have eventually had to contact my bank and file a fraud form. Now it is in the law's hands. If I have learned anything from this situation it is this... Allied Semiconductor is a group of scammers who will take your money and never send the product you order. I will never deal with them again. Back to the irony of the whole deal, they still call me periodically to ask me if I would be willing to do business with them. The answer is still no. Once bitten twice shy. So, if Allied approaches you in an attempt to earn your business, tell them NO. They are not a reputable business. They will give you the run around and never honor their word. That's my rant. I sure hope it saves someone else the hassles and time I have wasted on them.
  • Bex
You are Lucky you did not deal with them. I made the mistake, and will be fighting to get the money back on a board I ordered because they guaranteed me it was in stock and I needed it overnight. Needless to say, no board ever shipped, my cc was charged and now 2 weeks AFTER getting the guarantee that the Credit would be done by "the boss". It still has not been. This company should be put out of business, I think it is run by Con-men.
They have some serious karmic issues coming at them.

Listen to Brad!!! He speaketh the trutheth!!!

Thanks for the forum to vent!
    Peace,
    Bex
