A little about me.

There are a few questions I get asked on almost a daily basis – and no, they aren’t computer problems – but questions about me. I usually answer in much the same way each time. Here’s how the conversation usually goes:

Customer: “So, is this your full time job?”

Me: “Yep. This is my full time job.”

Customer: “So, how long have you been doing this kind of work?”

Me: “A little over 4 years now. But I started using computers when I was about 4 years old.”

Customer: “Do you stay pretty busy?”

Me: “Yep. I sure do. It’s a rare occasion that I have a slow week.”

Customer: “Well, you know, that’s a good problem to have!”

Me: “I guess so!”

Customer: “Do you have kids?”

Me: “Yeah, a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old. They’re 13 months apart.”

Customer: “They must keep you busy, too.”

Me: “Yes they do.”

Customer: “So did you go to college to learn all of this?”

Me: “Not really. Most everything I know I taught myself, or learned on-the-job. There’s not really a class you can take to learn this stuff, you just kind of have to figure it out. I see different issues every day…”

Then I go into questions about when there computer problems started, what error messages they’ve been seeing, and who their internet provider is. And after all that is out of the way, I get to work on fixing the problems.

So, next time you see me or talk to me, you’ll know a little bit about me in advance – and maybe I’ll have come up with more interesting things to say!
